Happy Women In Engineering Day!
Today, on Women in Engineering Day, we’re proud to shine a spotlight on one of our longest-serving and most dedicated team members: Tracy Fisher, Engineering Planning Supervisor at our Erith site.
Tracy’s journey with Oscar Mayer began over 30 years ago, working on the production line. With hard work, curiosity, and a strong drive to learn, she steadily progressed through a range of roles before finding her home in the engineering department.
Reflecting on her career, Tracy says:
“I never imagined I’d end up in engineering, but once I got a taste for it, I knew it was where I wanted to be. Every day is different, and I love the challenge.”
Working in a traditionally male-dominated field hasn’t always been easy, but Tracy approaches it with characteristic humour and resilience.
“You need a good sense of humour and a strong team around you,” she says. “And I’m lucky to have both.”
What’s kept Tracy at Oscar Mayer all these years? For her, the answer is simple: the people.
“We’re a close-knit team. I’ve worked with some of my colleagues for decades—we’ve celebrated weddings, birthdays, christenings. It’s more than a job, it’s a community.”
Her story is a testament to the opportunities available at Oscar Mayer and the importance of building supportive teams where everyone can thrive.
We’re grateful to Tracy for sharing her story and for her incredible contribution to our business. Her experience shows that with the right attitude and support, a career in engineering is open to everyone.
