Chew on This: A Podcast by the People Behind the Food
15th July 2025

🔊 Please note: Due to some technical issues during recording, the audio is a bit glitchy and unclear in places. However, we felt the conversation was too important not to share. Thanks for bearing with us.
The idea for Chew on This was born while watching an FSA (Food Standards Agency) board meeting. What stood out to us was the lack of representation from real people working within the food industry—those on the front lines of food manufacturing, safety, and innovation.
If we can’t join their table…
…There’s nothing to stop us from building our own.
Our podcast aims to create a space for open conversation on key industry topics, including food safety, legislation, new product development (NPD), innovation, and food-related current affairs.
Step 1: Starting with our own people
We began by bringing together voices from across Oscar Mayer to:
-
Encourage big thinking and strengthen communication skills
-
Keep our team informed, inspired, and industry-relevant
-
Build confidence and grow our future leaders
-
Strengthen company culture and improve employee engagement
Step 2: Inviting the wider industry
Next, we’re opening the conversation to other food manufacturers, industry professionals, and trade associations. Our goal is to:
-
Broaden our network and increase influence
-
Bring in new perspectives and valuable insights
-
Raise the standard of industry debate and knowledge sharing
-
Tackle common challenges through collaboration
Step 3: Creating meaningful content
We’re recording our roundtable discussions as podcast episodes and turning them into useful, thought-provoking content. This helps us:
-
Position Oscar Mayer as a thought leader and innovative partner
-
Build stronger relationships with customers and industry peers
-
Expand brand visibility and reach
-
Create new partnership opportunities
Our first episode: Allergens and Accountability
We launched Chew on This during Allergy Awareness Week—a timely opportunity to spotlight a critical topic. Allergies are on the rise, and as a major UK food manufacturer, we have a responsibility to get allergen management right. But it’s not just our responsibility—it’s an industry-wide challenge that requires collective action and collaboration.
